Essex Curriculum ICT Technical Support Partnership

Choosing an ICT Partner
Historically the role of ICT support started within the school with an enthusiastic teacher or TA but as systems become more comples and the number of workstations mushroom then this is no longer viable.

The system proposed by Becta (government agency) is to have a 'First level support person' in school to cope with the day to day issues and then a 'Second level support' company who can offer more indepth support and have time for larger upgrades etc.  The technician from this company will have worked regularly with similar systems and will be more capable of resolving issues quickly.

Becta also suggest having an admin person as a 'Single point of contact' in school to keep track of the hardware and software inventry, to place orders, liase with the Second level support companies, keep records and accounts.
ICT Team Support Partner School
Surveys KS1 & KS2 schools each September to identify quality support partners and displays the data for each partner on the e-techsupport website. Partners, with survey results that reach the targets, are invited to have their details published on the e-techsupport website. They provide contact details and details of their services. Short list from those displayed on
e-techsupport and choose an appropriate support partner.
