In schools, it is usually the technical people managing the network who monitor the
network. They often use network monitoring tools that can be complex pieces of
software requiring both a degree of understanding of network principles and of the
actual organisation of the network to be monitored. If properly configured, the
software will usually produce statistics on network use and capacity that non-
technical staff can understand.
